Answer the following question regarding chapter 1; do not copy someone else's answer!
Why does Junior draw cartoons? What do the first two cartoons depict? What does this tell us about Junior? Analyze the last line of the chapter; what does that mean? ("I think the world is a series of broken dams and floods, and my cartoons are tiny lifeboats.")
He says his drawings express and show more than words. That he's different/wierd. Junior is a different duck. When everything is going bad for him and he has nothing to turn to, his cartoons are his savior, and it helps him a LOT!
ReplyDeleteI agree with u mason. When he draws things it seems to make him feel better. Also his drawings make me laugh sometimes.
Deletei agree with you agreeing to mason kayla. his drawings are like HA thats good right there.
Deletethat's right
DeleteCole thanks for agreeing with me agreeing to mason
DeleteHe draws pictures because everyone can understand them, it doenst matter wat language u speak. The first picture of the book is of him and how he looks and the second picture is still of him. The last sentence means something like everyone is drowing in their problems and his pictures can save you from drowning.
ReplyDeletei disagree with kayla. because he is drowning in his own problems and drawing helps him feel better about his life. no one else cares about his drawings so it only helps him and no one else.
DeleteI disagree with the last part of Kayla's post. His drawing aren't saving anybody from drowning but himself.
DeleteJunior draws cartoons because he believes that they're his only chance of getting off the rez, and getting out of poverty. The first cartoon depicts Junior stuttering, basically making fun of himself. The second cartoon depicts Junior juggling and saying "love me" three times. It tells us that he wants people to love him. I think the last sentence of the chapter means that Junior doesn't think much is good or sturdy in the world, but is drawings are one thing that will save him.
ReplyDeleteJunior draws cartoons because he wants to talk to the world and he says words are too unpredictable and limited. It also helps him feel important like he will be famous someday. His first two cartoons show who he is and what is interests are. It tells us that he likes poetry and he seems like a pretty positive person. To me, the last line in the book basically says that his cartoons are what keeps him going and helps him though his hard times.
ReplyDeleteJunior says he has many drawings to express himself and he says words are to unpredictable. I belive that the cartoons he has drawn mean he is dorky and gets picked on a lot but the cartoons depict that he has something to do when he has nobody to turn to and nowhere to go. :}
ReplyDeletevery interesting comments. i see how you were thinking in what you said but then again everybody has there own way of thinking.
DeleteHe draws because words are too unpredictable. The first cartoon is a picture of how he looks and all of his deformities. The second cartoon is about him wanting fame and people to listen to him. These cartoons tell us that junior like to talk in pictures rather than in words. I think the last line of the chapter means his cartoons are just a way telling his life story.
ReplyDeleteI agree George, Junior i believe is telling us his life story at the end of the chapter.
Deletehe draws pictures because everyone can understand them. it doesnt matter what language you speak you will always understand pictures. the first two pictrues are pictures of himself and what he looks like. it tells you that junior has no self confidence and he thinks that he is ugly and worthless. it is like he is sinking in the world and is feeling useless and bad and when he draws his cartoons he feels better.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think his cartoons are his escape to get out of poverty and help him think mor positively.
Deletehe likes to draw whats on his mind, words are unpredictable, and there words are to limited.
ReplyDeletethe first two cartoons depict that he is a dorky kid and everybody picks on him.
the other picture shows how his parents like jaz and every thing.
it means that there his only way out of his mind to express himself.
I agree zach. words are unpredictable. It is easy to express thoughts and feelings through drawings.
DeleteHe draws cartoons because he thinks words are too unpredictable, he wants to be able to speak to the world. He says everyone can understand pictures instead of words and it'd be the only way to become famous if he could. I think the cartoons depict that he wants attention and also that he doesn't think too highly and important of himself. The last line makes me think that he feels like he is reaching out to people with his drawings, like lifeboats reach out to help sinking ships .
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Courtney. His drawings do kind of depict that he wants attention.
Deletethat man was drawing pictures because he's like "woah i'm a weird kid" and when he draws pictures everyone can understand him. and because he's so weird kids beat him up on a monthly basis. thus proving the pythagorean theorem of the inarticulate architecture.
ReplyDeleteJunior draws cartoons because he hopes drawing will get him out of his poor life. The first two cartoons depict him being different than others. The last line means that his drawings keep him from going under.
ReplyDeleteI agree. He thinks he's going to leave his life and have a better life from his drawings.
Deletei agree with you Alex because drawing does help him with getting him out of his poor life, and i thought that he was also different than others with his drawing, and yes his drawings did help him so he wont fall apart (go under).
DeleteJunior draws because he says words are too unpredictable and limited. If he draws, the whole world can understand him. Both of his pictures are of himself. One shows him stuttering. Which could mean that He isn't embarassed of himself. The last line means that the world is kind of a mess and his drawings of cartoons help himself and other people.
ReplyDeleteHe also thinks that everyone can understand pictures but they dont understand words. You can explain more with a picture than with words. He thinks he's different than everyone else. He thinks thats how people see him and he thinks thats what he looks like. It tells us that he doesn't think he's good enough for anyone. He thinks that his cartoons help people. When nothing else goes right his cartoon are there for people.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Kenzie, because the pictures are something everyone can relate to and understand so he can make them feel better or something. If that makes sense?
DeleteHe draws because he said that words are too unpredictable and because the words are too limited. He also draws because he wants to talk to the world. The first cartoon depict says Me in all my Glory. He's in glory because he's in the rain. The second cartoon depicts means that he wants people to love him. Junior tells us that he is nuts and weird. The last line of the chapeter means he likes to draw. Instead of write, so he's saying that his cartoons are better then the dames and floods.
ReplyDeleteHe draws because he has no life. He should just go 110 down the highway and stick a fork in his tire. He talks like hes stupid so he tries to communicate by drawing pictures that suck but its not effective cus he cant draw.
ReplyDeleteLook at this again Austin! He definitely has a life!
DeleteJunior draws cartoons because he thinks words are too unpredictable, and too limited. He also thinks that If you dont speak the same language as everyone then only the people who speak the language you wrote in can understand it. With the two pictures i think he is different from other kids. This tells us about Junior that he is way different from other kids, because he is more creative and wants all people to understand his work (drawing). The last line of the chapter means that when things are going wrong in life he wants to excape and the way he knows how to excape is when he draws. i think it saves him from worrying about things.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you taylor. Junior is happy to be a cartoonist because he wants to try to be famous one day with all of his cartoons. He's really trying to look for attention.
DeleteJR draws cause he cant really speak like he draws, he sucks at speaking he has a lisp and has a st - st- studder. The first two drawing he drew in his book are him, and what he like to do.. WHO HE IS.. in the book he says
ReplyDelete("I think the world is a series of broken dams and floods, and my cartoons are tiny lifeboats") I think he actually meant
^ His carttons save him from reality..
