Wake

"We all have to find our own way to say good-bye." (p. 161) How does Junior
do this?

  1. The way Junior says good-bye is by laughing and crying. Junior also says good-bye to not just his grandmother, but to all of them. Each funeral was a funeral for everyone. He says they lived and died together.

  4. He laughs and cries. He says laughing and crying are the same thing. He also says that one grandmothers funeral is every grandmothers funeral. I think laughing is a good way of saying goodbye cause the person dead especially his grandma wouldn't want to see all these people sad.

  6. When he says goodbye he laughs and cries. He is kind of laughing at all the memories and trying not to be so sad, because that's what his grandmother would want.

  8. Junior says goodbye by laughing. I think it's kind of an involuntary reaction for him. If it's not, he certainly doesn't bother to try to hold it in like most people would. Also, his sister says goodbye by singing all day. This just shows two really different ways people say goodbye.

  9. Junior says goodbye in his own way. He ends up crying and laughing. He doesnt want to be sad the whole time and he knows his grandma wouldnt want him to be sad.

  11. Junior laughs and cries because he said they are like the same thing. It shows that they were sad to an extent but his grandmother wouldnt have wanted them to be sad.
